You will be able to choose any kind of image (jpg, png, gif and swf) to symbolize XTac's objects (teams, player's waypoints, actions)... We will include two sets of icons from <a href="http://www.famfamfam.com" target="_blank">famfamfam.com</a> (Mark James) and one set specially designed for FPS's into the final v2.0 release.<br>]]>

It checks whether your have the latest version or not. If a new build is available you are asked if you want XTac to update itself. Then XTac downloads the new version and, when done, it restarts automatically.<br><br>We are now focusing on these points:<br><ul><li>bug fixes</li><li>new graphic and sound objects</li><li>user interface improvements</li></ul>We are not ready to open a beta test these days so you'll have to wait a bit... <img src="http://www.tacticalcoders.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" /><br>]]>

As we were working on this update we have decided to change our plans. We've made so many major improvements to the tactical engine that the next version could not be considered as a simple 1.x branch anymore. Actually, we've completely rewritten files read/write process and how objects are constructed to get even more flexibility and perfomances.<br><br>Here is what is better in the current beta version :<br><ul><li>uses 30% less memory.</li><li>reads big maps and tactics with a lot of objects faster than before.</li><li>makes a .tfm (map file) in 7 clicks from any image (jpeg), directly from XTac (XTac MDK is now part of XTac).</li><li>plays a tactic directly into XTac like a movie (XTac Player is now part of XTac).</li><li>contains a new object: text area.</li><li>shows the team's or player's name on selection.</li></ul>Here is what we plan to introduce into the next betas :<br><ul><li>new objects: flag, sound (mp3).</li><li>custom icons for teams, players and actions.</li><li>improved autoupdate (auto-download, auto-install)<br></li></ul>For the moment beta versions are only for internal testings but we may open a public beta test within a few weeks.<br><span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by Clovis - 08 Jun 2008 at 11:55</span>]]>

Then comes : save tactics on the server, simple flags (to show important locations on the map), option to permanently show player's actions, option show player's name above its last waypoint...<br><br>We are also working on another way to make XTac Servers more secure (though there is no real security problem). This will impact XTac, XTac Server and tacticalcoders.com. This security update will probably be published as XTac 1.1.1 before the release of XTac 1.2.<br><br>XTac 1.2 is awaited around may '08 whereas XTac 1.1.1 will be published before the end of april '08.<br><br>Feel free to tell us your what are your <a href="http://www.tacticalcoders.com/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=11" target="_blank">"tactical wishes"</a> <img src="http://www.tacticalcoders.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" /><br><br>]]>
